SUMMARY:UP 200
DESCRIPTION:The UP200 Powered by NMU is one of America’s premier 12-dog\, mid-distance sled dog races and draws mushers from around the United States and Canada. The first UP200 was run in February\, 1990\, after two years of planning by sled dog racing enthusiasts. The current race covers approximately 216 miles from Marquette to Grand Marais\, with a return to Ojibwa Casino along the same trail. The terrain includes stretches of near-wilderness\, creek crossings\, hills and valleys\, and heavily forested land. Mushers say this is one of their favorite races\, not only because of the challenging race\, but because of the beautiful trail\, the cheering crowds and warm welcome they receive at every checkpoint along the trail here in the Upper Peninsula. \nThe UP200 is an Iditarod qualifying race. Registration is limited to 40 teams\, and mushers are required to have finished the Midnight Run or other equivalent sixty (60) mile continuous running races within the past three seasons.

SUMMARY:Pasvik Trail
DESCRIPTION:Pasvik Trail is a long-distance race in Norway\, it is organized every year at the end of March/beginning of April. Pasvik Trail is known for its friendly atmosphere and its unique nature experience. \nThe Pasvik Trail starts from Svandhovd in Pasvik. The route goes through the pine forest in Pasvikdalen and offers everything from river stretches along the Russian border to the mountain ether valley along the Finnish border. The race has checkpoints in Neiden and Vaggetem\, before the finish line back to Svanhovd. \nIn 1992 and 1993\, the Pasvik 250 was organized\, this was the precursor to the Pasvik Trail before Sør-Varanger Sled Dog Club took over the event. The Pasvik Trail was completed for the first time in 1995\, a race of around 200km. The race celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2005. From 2002\, the Pasvik Trail has been a race of 250 km. The race has two classes: an open class where the number of dogs is decided by the competitor\, and another for teams of 8 dogs. In 2002\, 2005\, 2007 and 2008\, the 8-team class had the status of Norwegian long-distance dog sledding championship. We look forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2025!

SUMMARY:Kobuk 440
DESCRIPTION:The Kobuk 440 Racing Association is a Kotzebue-based non-profit run by volunteers all across the Northwest Arctic region. The association hosts the Kobuk 440 mid-distance sled dog race annually\, as well as the Taaqpak 120 and Junior Races for youth in the community. For the Iñupiat\, dog mushing has always been a part of life and a part of the region’s history. Mid-distance races provide an opportunity for dog mushers to garner experience that can lead them to longer races like the Iditarod. During the race\, checkpoint communities come together to celebrate the Iñupiaq way of life\, respect for nature\, community wellness\, and heritage. Our mission is made possible by the generous support of our sponsors and individual donations. We thank you for your support.

SUMMARY:Hudson Bay Quest
DESCRIPTION:David Daley of Wapusk Adventures had the concept for the HUDSON BAY QUEST\, and with the support of a small group of Churchill dog mushers the first Hudson Bay Quest was run in 2004. \nThe intent of the Hudson Bay Quest has always been to revive dog sledding as a sport and tradition of the north. The Committee is made up of volunteers\, who help organize and officiate the race. \nFor years\, it brought together teams from Churchill\, Nunavut and the rest of North America in a traditional freighting style sled race. The Hudson Bay Quest now embarks on a new era to celebrate northern Manitoba trapper culture\, running from Gillam\, Manitoba to Churchill\, Manitoba. It is a trek through boreal forest and barren tundra that will prove a test for any racer. \nThe Quest will then follow a route along the Hudson Bay rail line and Wapusk National Park\, 220 miles to Churchill. Designed as a self-sufficient dog sledding adventure\, racers carry their own supplies and dog food for the duration of this northern dog sled race. \nIt is a traditional race built on the history of the fur trade\, the Hudson’s Bay Company and the early days of Churchill\, Manitoba. It harkens back to a time when ‘There ain’t no law of God nor man goes north of 53°’ was a common saying.
