Mitch Seavey, born in 1959, is a prominent American dog musher celebrated for his victories in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska. He claimed the Iditarod championship in 2004, 2013, and 2017, notably becoming the oldest winner at 57 in 2017, surpassing his 2013 record at 53. Born in Minnesota, Seavey grew up in Seward, Alaska. He began his mushing journey in 1963, and was inspired by his father's 1973 Iditarod run. The Iditarod, he says, is a cherished family tradition. His son, Dallas, holds multiple Iditarod triumphs, including the youngest-ever win in 2012.

Seavey entered his first Iditarod in 1982 and has participated consistently since 1995. Seavey also boasts victories in the Copper Basin 300 (twice), Klondike 300, Kusko 300, and the Grand Portage Passage race in Minnesota. In 2008, he set a record in the All Alaska Sweepstakes with a time of 64 hours, 29 minutes, and 45 seconds.
